14.06.2020 Adbusting zum Tag der Bundeswehr

No day for the Bundeswehr

No, yesterday was no day for the army. First almost all public events had to be cancelled because of Corona. All that remained were digital appearances to promote a career in the Bundeswehr.

And then advertising posters of the Bundeswehr in the city area were exchanged. Corona also played a role here, e.g. with the slogan"Barracks to hospitals" und "With us you can die without Corona".

Already in April, the "Besondere Amt für Veralberung" (BfV) had captured the advertising of the Bundeswehr at the House of Representatives in Berlin-Mitte with an adbusting. The original poster of the military showed a soldier*in front of the folding computer and advertised for applications in the IT sector. The adbusting picks up the concentrated thoughtful pose of the soldier*in and completes it with thought bubbles in comic style: "Hm... instead of thinking about military inside we should think about civil disaster control...". (health protection instead of armament ).

This time, various Wall AG billboards were the target. Even if it is only about a civil law dispute of an advertising company, the Military Counter-Intelligence Service (MAD) and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution are also involved in the adbusting actions. Even the "Joint Extremism and Terrorism Defence Centre of the Federal Government and the Länder (GETZ)" dealt with adbusting four times in 2018/19. The Bundeswehr and AKK appear to be "not amused".

This was also the case with the Bundeswehr, we too were "not amused" when, in the middle of the Corona crisis, it convened an event in the Ministry of Defence with a selected circle of members of the Defence Committee and military personnel entitled "Armed drones - political, ethical and legal aspects" and wanted to sell this and 2 subsequent events in camera as the broad social debate with "detailed international legal, constitutional and ethical appraisal" decided by the Bundestag in 2013. We have to prevent that after this Potjemkin theatre the Bundeswehr now lets the Bundestag (practically only the budget committee) vote for arming its combat drones.
