04.06.2018 Seehofer's (Süd-) Kreuz

Demand for freedom of information request to station Südkreuz

While Mr. Söder distributes the crosses in the offices of Bavaria, Interior Minister Seehofer has to carry his (Süd) Cross here in Berlin.

Update 15.06.2018: Now at least we got a letter, that our questions are under work and an answer ist possible:

Four weeks ago, we submitted our extensive catalog of questions and demands, on the  allegedly "intelligent" video surveillance at Berlin's Südkreuz station, to the Ministry of the Interior. Even after 4 weeks, we did not receive any answers to questions that some other civil society groups had already asked in the fall.

There can be no question of transparency in this project of the Ministry of the Interior, the Deutsche Bahn and the Federal Criminal Police Office.

Central points of the project are still in the dark. There is no information about the planned follow-up projects and the desired "nationwide" introduction of such a video surveillance by the former Minister of the Interior, De Maiziere.

We've at least entered the locations, of the more than 100 cameras of the station, on the Surveillance under Surveillance  World Map. Unfortunately, this is of little help to the people, because first of all there are so many cameras that even a mouse can not enter the station unobserved and secondly (despite a few stickers on the floor) it is unclear which camera serves which purpose.

That is why today we have recalled the pending answer to our questions.

To the Federal Minister of the Interior
Alt-Moabit 140

Dear Sir or Madam,
4 weeks ago we sent you a request for information on the pilot project "Project Berlin Südkreuz Safety Station" to the following addresses: poststelle@bmi.bund.de and presse@bmi.bund.de.

While we received the reply from the press office that the processing will be carried out by the post office, this and no other place in your house has given us an answer or at least an acknowledgment of receipt.

We ask for information about the status of the processing and an answer to the outstanding questions before the end of the project at the end of July.
If a follow-up project, as planned by Mr. De Maiziere, was to start immediately afterwards, information to the public would already be necessary at the present time.

Best regards
Aktion Freiheit statt Angst e.V.

We will inform the Data Protection Officers and the civil society groups, with whom we have developed the questions and requests, about the past non-response and demand. Freedom of information requests are a common means of gaining transparency about the actions of public authorities and companies.
