Twitter wants to encrypt personal messages end-to-end

The idea came from Edward Snowden*, who had tweeted the Twitter boss Jack Dorsey at the end of 2016 to think about it seriously.

The work is in full swing. The latest versions of the Android Twitter app already contains references to such a feature. Then Twitter users could use a secure communication channel like the messenger apps WhatsApp, Signal or Threema.

The level of security of the encryption can not be estimated before the first working programs are released. One knows only so far that the encryption should be working optional. The user is shown the verification of his own and the key of the other person. How this works in a user-friendly way is still unknown - but an encryption function is definitely overdue ...
