Laughter can endanger your freedom

Now a jury convicted three Code Pink activists on charges related to a protest at the confirmation hearing of Jeff Sessions for attorney general — including a Virginia woman who said all she did was break out in laughter.
They faces fines between $2,000 up to 12 months in jail. The woman with the laugh, Desiree A. Fairooz, 61, of Bluemont, Va., said: “I just couldn’t hold it, it was spontaneous. It was an immediate rejection of what I considered an outright lie or pure ignorance.” It happens when in the hearing Senator Richard Shelby, Republican of Alabama, said that Mr. Sessions’s record of “treating all Americans equally under the law is clear and well-documented”.
Perhaps the prosecutors have remembered the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Bülent Arinc, who in 2014 seriously asked women in Turkey not to laugh loudly in public. Laughing of women is unacceptable, and such a form of cheerfulness corrupts the morality of the country.
