03.11.2010: Investigative Powers for the 21^st Century Act

Der kanadische Innenminister hat gestern den Entwurf eines "Gesetzes über Ermittlungsbefugnisse für das 21. Jahrhundert" ("Investigative Powers for the 21st Century Act") vorgelegt. Mit diesem Gesetz entscheidet sich Kanada bewusst gegen eine Vorratsdatenspeicherung.

Das kanadische Vorgehen beweist erneut, dass die in Deutschland von Unionspolitikern und Polizeifunktionären geforderte allgemeine Vorratsspeicherung sämtlicher Verbindungsdaten der gesamten Bevölkerung für eine effektive Strafverfolgung nicht erforderlich ist.

These amendments respond to the ever-evolving technological environment, while protecting the human rights of persons in Canada, including their right to a reasonable expectation of privacy.
